Congratulations to Cub Band members Laura Rivera and Zhury Ferrera for competing and qualifying for the HIGH SCHOOL All District Band and advancing to the region level. Zhury and Laura competed on their respective instruments against high school band members of all grade levels from all Laredo high schools. Laura placed 14th chair out of 63 Clarinets and Zhury placed 7th chair out of 23 French horns. Both students will be advancing and competing at the region level on Saturday, December 2nd, against other high school students from school districts from Laredo to Corpus Christi. Good luck girls!!! We are so proud of you!

LISD to host Specialty Schools Open House
Laredo Independent School District will be hosting its annual Specialty Schools Open House at each campus for eighth grade students and their parents on Saturday, November 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The seven specialty schools will open their doors to the community and invite eighth grade students to tour the campus and apply for admission for the 2024-2025 school year.
The event is aimed at recruiting students who may be interested in attending any LISD specialty school for the 2024-2025 school year. The seven early college high schools and magnet school include the Business, Industry, and Public Services Early College Academy at Nixon High School, Sabas Perez Early College High School at Cigarroa High School, Dr. Dennis D. Cantu Health Science Early College High School at Martin High School, Hector J. Garcia Early College High School located at Texas A&M International University, Pathways to Technology Early College High School at Cigarroa High School, Agriculture, Food, & Natural Resources (AFNR) P-TECH at Martin High School, and the Vidal M. Trevino School of Communications and Fine Arts Magnet School.
